Cold Weather Continues To Create Great Lowcountry Deer Hunting
The cold winter weather that the lowcountry has had for the last couple of weeks continues to hold, and that has kept the deer up and looking for food in the afternoons. This helped our group of eight down from PA for a last minute hunt have a great time, see lots of deer and harvest a pile of does and young bucks along with one very nice 8 point. Mike was the lucky one to drop the biggest deer of the trip, which everyone agreed was perfect since he was the only one of the bunch to have never killed a mounter buck. And like I said, most of the rest of the PA crew saw lots of deer despite the tough, windy conditions, and they loaded up the coolers with our special brand of tasty SC venison. So congratulations to Mark and the whole gang on their successful hunt, and we definitely look forward to seeing everyone (even coy-dog killer Booger, I mean Buggers) next year!
Now we just have two weeks left in our South Carolina lowcountry deer hunting season before we wrap it up for another 8 months. So if you are thinking of getting in one last 2010 hunt, call Becky ASAP to set something up before Jan. 1st. We still have lots of deer running around, and with all of this super cold weather (its 20F right now!), they are moving pretty good.
But maybe you don’t have time to squeeze in a last minute hunt this year (or don’t want your significant other to go missing during this special time of year), and instead are just trying to get all of your holiday shopping in before Christmas. Then you should think about one of our GIFT CERTIFICATES! That’s right, you can get the hunter in your life exactly what they want for a change – a hunting trip to the lowcountry of South Carolina ANYTIME they want to go next year. Just give Becky a call and tell her what game your mate would like to hunt, and she will set you up with the right package that they can redeem whenever they are ready.
And one of the hunts that they might want to use their gift certificates on is our Winter-Spring hog hunts. We are just about to crank them up after the first of the year, and the January through April months are the absolutely BEST times to be in the woods for porkers. The cold weather will still be with us, making them move for food. This great movement allows our guests to load up on pork as well as put some great big boar heads up on their trophy room walls.
Another great hunt that those with gift certificates could use them on is our Turkey/Hog combo hunts from March 15th through May 1st. We hunt the big longbeards in the morning when they are fired up and gobbling, and then turn our attention to the pigs in the afternoon when they move the best. So, with this hunt, our guests really get to hunt the prime times of the day for each animal and maximize their successes!
Please note: I also wanted to include in this post a picture of another PA hunter, Mark, who was down a few weeks ago with his wife Lori on a deer hunt. Mark killed a nice buck while here in the lowcountry, and somehow in all of the crazyness of the rut, didn’t get his pic up here. So congratulations to him and all of the other special guests that have joined us this season.
