The only way to describe the SC Hog Hunting at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge lately is absolutely awesome!  SC Hog Hunting Is Awesome! You are about to see why this blog has taken so long this time.  With hunters  from Canada to Louisiana and from Colorado to New York and many areas in between, we have been very busy in the low country.

There are many reasons why our SC Hog Hunting has been so successful.  One reason is our abundance of land with exceptional hog habitat along the Savannah river area.  We are able to select areas and stands that are not over pressured and are very active with hog activity. Quality and safe stands are placed and selected for the hunters best opportunity to harvest hogs.  Next is our extremely experienced guides.  They dedicate their entire day and efforts to help make your hunt successful and enjoyable and they too enjoy your success.

Many of you know that when you arrive, we always start with safety instructions and try to educate hunters on hogs and hog hunting all that we can.  This added knowledge about wild hogs and hunting wild hogs helps greatly with our hunters having the best opportunities for harvesting wild hogs.  The last element that seems to help our hunters success is our 600 yard shooting range.  Many times our guests are amazed with just a little instructions and the opportunity to practice shots at longer ranges definitely helps them make better shots in the woods.  All this helps our hunters to have a successful hunt.  Nothing completes a great hunt like the meals served by our great southern cook Neta and time spent afterwards around our fire pit.

Now for some of the pictures from our recent hunts.  First we have Dave down from NY to do a one day hunt, actually a one afternoon hunt.  Dave got it done with a real nice boar on his first boar hunt ever.IMG_0078

IMG_0082Next we have Jeff from Myrtle Beach, SC with another good boar.

Frank Denicola from NY was down again and had a great surprise to find our “Wounded Warrior” friend,  Matt from NC back down for another successful hog hunt. IMG_0050 These guys really enjoy their time together hunting in the low country.  Just a quick note, Matt will be conducting our Long Range Shooting Classes that will begin in late April through the summer.  More details will be coming soon on these classes.

Our next group came from Maryland, Virginia, NC, SC & Ontario, Canada for their annual SC Hog hunting trip.  After a missed opportunity Seth managed to harvest a big dry sow to take home to Maryland.IMG_0056

IMG_0055-1                                                             Sam from Maryland also took a big tasty sow with a well placed shot.

Brian ended up with a nice boar to help the score on this years SC Hog Hunt.IMG_0059  These guys saw plenty of hogs on their hunt and we all had a great time again.

IMG_0062We often have opportunities on preditors like coyotes and bobcats while hog hunting and Bob from NC made a good shot on this nice bobcat.

Keith also from NC got it done on the hogs with this nice meat hog.IMG_0067

We also enjoyed another group of hunters that came from Colorado and NY.  This group has done lots of hunting together and have hog hunted in TX many times.  This time they chose SC for their hog hunt and best of all, they chose Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.  When the hunt came to a close the 6 hunters harvested 8 nice hogs and took some great boars in the process.  Although we don’t have all the pictures we will share the ones we have.  You will see why they have already planned their next hog hunt with us at Cypress Creek.

Talking about turkeys!  Our hog hunters are being blown away by all the turkey sightings this year.  Our birds have been very active and on warm days are doing quite a lot of gobbling already.  With our turkey season starting on March 15th it looks to be a record year already.

This past week we had a new group of hunters down from PA for their first every hog hunt.  They caught on real quick and took some magnum boars in the process.

Kenneth was the first to down a huge boar with a well placed shot.  Kenneth plans to return real soon with his grandson for some more SC Hog Hunting.IMG_0103

The very next evening it was Doug and John that added to the pot with two giant boars from the river area.  From a jeweler to a hog hunter on his first hunt.IMG_0104

John took 2 big boars with some real nice cutters to complete the hunt.  Four hunters and four huge boars.IMG_0116IMG_0110

As usual we had plenty of hog sightings and several misses and no names to mention for those.  They can be called missed opportunities.

January has been a great start to our New Year of hog hunting.  The hog population is unbelievable and the hunter success has been too.   Just come and “Pursue the Experience” one time at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge and you will want to return again and again!

The turkey hunters this year should have some awesome turkey hunting.  The number of turkeys and especially gobblers is the best that I have ever seen in the Low Country.  With plenty of gobblers ready to make your day, I can hardy wait!

Also here are some trail cam pictures.
