SC Deer Hunting Heats Up

Well here it is! The long overdue blog. We apologize for the long delay since the last blog but we have been reconstructing our new website and we will be updating our blog again on a regular basis. We will try to get everyone caught up on what’s been happening at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

First of all, we promised pictures of the Kerry Earnhardt buck harvested during the 1st week of our 2012 deer season. This big 11pt buck was harvested by Kerry with only 2 minutes of camera light left in his hunt. There was a bigger buck in the field that would not offer a shot before the camera light ran out. Several bachelor groups of bucks came into the same field on the last evening of his hunt. There was a total of 14 bucks in the field at one time with this big eleven pointer being the second best buck, and the only one that was already hardhorned. Kerry made a great shot at 280 yards & the huge buck only went about 40 yards. See this exciting hunt on the Outdoor Channel Family Traditions TV Show. We will try to give you the date when we get it.

Kala L. from Loxahatchee, FL harvested a nice 6pt buck while hunting at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge with her dad, Alan. David M. from Summerville, SC harvested 2 bucks & 2 does while here on a 2 day hunt in September.

Don L. from Zephyrhills, FL took a nice 7pt buck on his 2 day SC deer hunt in September.

Patti & her group of ladies from Florida & Tennessee had some great hunting while here in late September. Their group of 5 harvested 3 bucks, 1 big doe & 2 huge boars on a 1 ½ day hunt.
There were a few misses that could have made the harvest even bigger but that’s Real Hunting!

Debbie H. from Middleburg, FL harvested a nice boar to start things off for the girls and then shot a
management buck.

Debbie D. from Royal Palm Beach, FL took a nice spike buck for her 1st buck and made a great shot.

Stacy from Lebanon, TN came in next with a great big boar that had obviously been doing some fighting. Stacy was unable to come last year with the girls due to the passing of her dad. We were very sorry for her loss. This year she made it here and took the great wild boar that she had hoped for.

Carrie from Sunrise, FL tried several times to add to the girls harvest, but was having some gun & scope issues. She had a number of shot opportunities on deer & hogs.

Patti, the group organizer, from Lake City, FL came back a couple of weeks later to take a great big mature 6pt buck and a nice doe.

This 6pt was a 3 ½ year old buck, so congratulations to Patti and all the ladies!

David O. from New Zealand harvested a buck during his stay with us and plans to return later in the year.

Glenn & his son Joshua from Rock Hill, SC harvested a management buck on their 1/2 day hunt.  They won a 2 day hunt for 2 hunters donated to the Oakdale Baptist Church. They had to leave after only 1 afternoon of hunting due to Joshua being sick.  Hopefully they can return soon to complete their hunt.

Jeremy with his dad, Charles from Charlotte, NC harvested his 1st deer while hunting at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

The pre-rut is finally kicking in and our next groups from TN, VA & NC sure took advantage of it.
Brian with his son Justin, his brother Jeff and their dad Steven all had very successful hunts.
Justin took top honors with a Great 8pt buck. Way to go young man! Mike from Greensboro a very experienced hunter & outdoorsman sat with Justin & filmed his hunt. Mike is also a great cook and we thank him for all that he did to add to these great hunts.  Brian’s brother Jeff also took a nice 8pt buck.

Grandfather Steven completed the family hunt with a good 7pt buck.

John & Johnny another father & son with this group from NC both took young bucks during their SC deer hunt with us. This was son Johnny’s 1st deer so a big Congratulations to you!

16yr old Alex from Port Charlotte, FL was here again with his mom & dad for a great family outting. 

On his 2nd SC deer hunting trip to Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge, Alex harvested this great 6pt buck for his 1st deer. Henry did a great job guiding Alex.

Our next group came with Greg from Kentucky and took advantage of our doe management hunts. Dr. Al took a fine doe & Eric got his 1st deer ever.

While on vacation visiting their Uncle Mike in Hilton Head Island, Dr. Jeff & his 16 yr old son Tom from Indiana spent 2 days hunting with us at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge and took this great 7pt buck. What a great vacation & hunt!

Our SC alligator hunting season ended Oct 15 and we had some late season hunters join us for one of our last gator hunts. Robert & his wife Jessica from Sunnyside, WA hunted with Justin for one last opportunty this year for a gator. Robert got the job done after a miss on an 8’ gator, but managed to get a fine 6’2” gator to take home. What a great way to end our SC Alligator Hunting Season for 2012.

Our last guest for this blog is Gary
from Orlando, FL. Gary works at Disney World and loves to hunt.
He harvested a nice 8pt buck and a fine doe on his 2 day SC deer hunting trip with us. He also saw a big 10pt but could not get a clean shot. Maybe on his next trip he will still be out there for him.

We hope this has gotten us caught up and we appreciate your patience waiting for this updated blog. We have plenty of hunters on their way so be sure to check next week for another posting and pictures of more SC deer hunting, SC hog hunting and updates from Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge.

SC deer hunting rut is about here and we expect plenty of good bucks showing up for our hunters. The food plots look great, the acorns are still around and we have plenty of corn on the ground. So join us for some great SC deer hunting between now and January 1, 2013.
