Spring Comes Early To The Lowcountry
After months of super cold, wet weather here in the South Carolina lowcountry, our temperatures have soared up and into the 80’s this past couple of weeks. This has made for tough
hunting since the hogs have only been moving right at dark for the most part. However many of our hunters have been hearing the hogs back in the brush messing around, so everyone knows that they aren’t far away. And this has allowed everyone to have a great hunt no matter the outcome.
But by hunting hard and making their opportunities count, some of our hunters have taken home some nice pigs including Kenny who shot two nice sows while his friend Lawrence killed a big boar.
Other lucky hunters that scored while here in the lowcountry were brothers Anthony and Guy who tagged four nice pigs while down with their dad, Sean who shot a good meat hog, and Todd who used a historic M1 Garand to bag his trophy pig. We also had several coyotes shot by guests including Brent and Tony as well as one bobcat by our friend Joe from NC.
So while the hogs haven’t been moving as well as usual there last few days, they are definitely still in the thick stuff. Hopefully our winter weather isn’t done with yet, and we can have a few more cold days to help get the hogs up and feeding.
And don’t forget, turkey season starts in just 10 days. So if you are looking to get after a big South Carolina swamp gobbler, give Becky a call to see what days we still have open. The season runs through May 1st, so you have plenty of time to get to the lowcountry, and sometimes the late season can be the best time.
